Sequined Evening Bag

Here's a charming gift for moms, birthdays, or bridesmaids. Turn a beaded evening bag into an unexpected, but luxurious vase with simple floral foam or a small glass or porcelain container. Then match flowers to beads: purses with pink, yellow, and white accents look especially springy; black and gray bags complement winter flower tones.

Materials:

	Small colorful handbag decorated with beads, sequins, pearls, etc.
	Brightly colored flowers to complement or match the colors on the bag (dendrobium orchids, mums, carnations, etc.)
	Floral foam
	Ziploc sandwich bag
	Double stick tape
	Sharp knife

Instructions:

1.		Cut floral foam to slightly smaller than inside area of handbag so it will fit inside comfortably. Be sure foam is tall enough to almost reach top edge of bag.
2.		Soak foam about 30 minutes.
3.		Line inside of handbag with Ziploc� sandwich bag to keep from damaging fabric. Cut sandwich bag so that edge of plastic does not go beyond top edge of bag. Secure sandwich bag to inside edge of purse with double stick tape.
4.		Place floral foam inside plastic-lined handbag.
5.		Hold flowers next to purse before cutting to measure desired length.
6.		Cut flower stems with sharp knife on 45-degree angle to help force stems into floral foam. (For less sturdy stems, use a pencil or thin object like a knitting needle to pre-form a hole so you can easily push stems in without damaging.)
7.		When inserting stems, be careful not to push sharp edge of stems through plastic bag to keep water from leaking through.
8.		Start with ivy or greens around edge of bag, and then add smaller blooms.
9.		Continue with larger blossoms, then the largest, checking arrangement as you add new flowers.
10.		Finish by inserting greens or any remaining smaller blooms where needed to fill in spare areas.
11.		Add fresh water to keep floral foam moist and flowers fresh.
