Glass
Cruets
Simple oil cruets (or dashing perfume bottles) make voluptuous vases
for flowers. Create a stunning monochromatic effect by adding colored
water and matching blossoms. These arrangements look the most vivid when
placed in a bright window. |
|
Materials:
| Assorted glass cruets or
perfume bottles
|
| Food coloring
|
| Small or miniature
blossoms in bright vibrant colors, 1-5 stems per cruet
(i.e., yellow mini daffodils, roses, mums, gerbera daisies, etc. )
|
| Sharp knife or flower
cutters |
|
|
Instructions:
1. | | Thoroughly
clean all cruets, making sure not to leave any soap residue as it
will shorten flower’s life.
|
2. | | Fill
containers 3/4 full with water, adding a few drops of chlorine
bleach to keep water fresh. Remove any leaves or foliage that will
be below water line.
|
3. | | Measure stem
length next to cruet to see where stems should be cut. The flowers
should top-off at about 1/2 the height of the container.
|
4. | | Cut stems on
a 45-degree angle for better water absorption.
|
5. | | Before
putting flowers in cruets, add food coloring drop by drop until you
reach the desired hue and intensity of blossom.
|
6. | | Place stems
in cruet. |
