The Shiksa * Wives Club
["Shiksa" or "Shikse," is a Yiddish word that has moved into English usage, mostly in North American Jewish culture and is sometimes used as a pejorative or mock-pejorative term for a Gentile (or non-Jewish) woman. Discretion in use of the term is called for, as it is still regarded as offensive by some. However, it is generally used in a humorous way.] *
I met a woman a few weeks ago, who like me, is a native New Yorker, now living in South Florida and married to a man who is Jewish. We are both freckle faced redheads. We both went to 12 years of Catholic School. And, despite both of our appearances, we are both often taken for Jewish.
We are both in relationships where the religious difference is not an issue, but is sometimes the object of some whimsical and playful humor. And, we both love to play it up.
I decided I am going to start a club called The Shiksa Wives Club.
Stay tuned for some funny stories.
