Thanks for the Chicken!

“Thanks for the chicken” is a private joke.

As a recently divorced mom, I was forced to go back to work fulltime, something I hadn’t done in close to 20 years.  Before the divorce, I had a decent clientele of merchants for whom I was webmaster.  Not enough for a fulltime income, but too good to let go.  So not only did I work a full day, but I came home and worked for my private clients most of the night too!

After I began dating the person who is now my new husband, he would join us (my 17 year old daughter and 10 year old son) for dinner once a week.  Most of the time he brought dinner.  And most of the time it was chicken. 

I have always encouraged my children to show appreciation and say “thank you” no matter what is offered them.  ”Thanks for the chicken”  is something that reminds us of how far we have come and how much we worked to make IT work!
